Employee trips to Phu Quoc: north, central or south, where to stay, what to do
Phu Quoc (Phú Quốc) is Vietnam's largest island and, in recent years, the Vietnamese destination most often chosen for employee trips and family days. Its positioning is clear: a pure beach holiday that's family-friendly, with ocean parks, a safari park, island hopping and water activities, and shallow, clean sea that's great for groups with children. This post explains the choices you'll face when "taking a whole group to Phu Quoc."
- Best for: families, family days, and groups that just want to relax in the sun. For history and culture, choose Da Nang or northern Vietnam.
- Clearly divided areas: the center (Duong Dong town) = local life, currency exchange, restaurants, night market; the north = theme parks, big hotels and a casino, purely for fun; the south = resort hotels + the island-hopping cable car. There's no highway on the island; the longest drive between south and north is about 40 minutes.
- Itinerary principle: keep your accommodation in one area. Stay in the north on the days you play in the north, and in the south for the south, instead of going back and forth every day.
- Recommended hotels: south: New World Phu Quoc Resort | center (Long Beach): Sunset Sanato Resort & Villas (private pool villas, ideal for booking whole villas) | north: Wyndham, Radisson.
- Visa: visiting only Phu Quoc on direct flights in and out = Taiwan passport holders get up to 30 days visa-free; you only need an e-Visa if your itinerary includes other Vietnamese cities.
What kind of company trip suits Phu Quoc?
It's easier to decide when you compare three directions in Vietnam:
- Northern Vietnam (Hanoi, Ha Long Bay): the capital and Ha Long Bay, history and an overnight cruise. Slower-paced, better suited to older travelers, with almost no water activities.
- Phu Quoc: mainly families. Plenty of ocean parks and zoos, beaches good for children. Few cultural sights; it's a pure beach holiday.
- Da Nang: the more all-round, steady choice. A well-developed city, a beautiful coastline and World Heritage Sites nearby.
In other words: if your group has lots of kids and everyone is thinking "lie in the sun + let the kids play in the water," Phu Quoc is right; if you want some city vibes and places to shop and take photos, Da Nang is more complete.
What's the difference between central, north and south Phu Quoc?
Phu Quoc is long and narrow, with development highly concentrated, and its three areas have very different personalities:
- Center (around Duong Dong town): the liveliest area with the most local life on the island. Currency exchange, restaurants, the night market, massages and small-town life are all here; the villa resorts on Long Beach (Bãi Trường) are also in this central stretch.
- North: theme parks, large hotels and a casino: purely for holidays and fun. Ideal for family groups who "don't really want to go out and would rather play all day in the resort area."
- South: several large resort hotels, close to the island-hopping cable car and famous white-sand beaches; the place for a day of water activities.
There's no highway on the island, only small roads, and the longest drive takes about 40 minutes. So when iTour plans Phu Quoc itineraries, we keep things concentrated: if you're visiting the northern theme parks, stay in the north those days; for island hopping in the south, stay in the south, turning driving time into real playing time.
Where to stay in Phu Quoc: three resorts iTour often arranges
South | New World Phu Quoc Resort
New World Phú Quốc Resort. A large resort at the southern tip, ideal for groups that want "the stay itself" to be the focus of the trip.
Center | Sunset Sanato Resort & Villas
On Long Beach (Bãi Trường), known for its beach art installations. About 110 private pool villas with 1–5 bedrooms, ideal for a department or team to book a whole villa together, about 9 minutes from the airport.
North | Wyndham / Radisson
Wyndham and Radisson. Close to the lively Duong Dong area and the entertainment village, convenient for eating, drinking and visiting the night market in the evening.
Hotels are adjusted to group size, room needs and season; the formal proposal includes room allocation and a quote.
What to do in Phu Quoc
- Ocean parks and theme parks: water parks, aquariums and rides, the highlight for family groups. Some resorts have their own water parks.
- Safari park: a semi-open zoo where you can see animals up close; kids love it.
- Island hopping and the cable car: take the sea-crossing cable car to the outer islands, with snorkeling, banana boats, parasailing and other water activities.
- Beach time: the famous white-sand beaches in the south and sunsets on Long Beach in the center, with free time or a beach party.
- Night market and massage: seafood at the Duong Dong night market and a foot massage, the "relaxation" part we schedule for every group.

Do you need a visa for a Phu Quoc employee trip?
Visiting only Phu Quoc on direct flights in and out: no visa needed. Taiwan passport holders can enter Phu Quoc visa-free and stay up to 30 days. The condition is "visa-free entry and visa-free exit": you cannot leave Phu Quoc for other Vietnamese cities during the trip; once you go to Hanoi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City or elsewhere, the visa-free status no longer applies.
If your itinerary includes other Vietnamese cities, you need a Vietnam e-Visa. For example, with "3 days in Phu Quoc + 2 days in Da Nang," the whole group needs to prepare documents for an e-Visa, with the entry date set to the first day in Vietnam. iTour works out from your itinerary whether you need one and how, and handles the whole group together.
If the whole group is traveling and time is short, iTour can speed things up with an urgent e-Visa and add Vietnam airport Priority / VIP Fast Track, so a group of a hundred people doesn't queue forever at the airport.
Phu Quoc company trips: FAQ
How many days is right for Phu Quoc?
Most company trips plan 4–5 days. To enjoy both the south and the north, we arrange a two-part stay: "first part in one area, second part in the other."
Will it be too hot and sunny for a family group?
Phu Quoc is warm year-round, so we schedule water activities in the morning, keep the afternoon for indoor activities or rest, and prepare sunscreen, insect repellent and other supplies.
Can we book a whole villa?
Yes. Private pool villas with 1–5 bedrooms like those at Sunset Sanato are ideal for booking by department or team, and you can even hold a small gathering by your own pool at night.
So do you need a visa for Phu Quoc or not?
Visiting only Phu Quoc on direct flights in and out, Taiwan passport holders are visa-free for up to 30 days, but cannot go to other Vietnamese cities during the trip. If your itinerary includes Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City or elsewhere, you need a Vietnam e-Visa.
Any restaurant recommendations in Phu Quoc?
The seafood restaurants around Duong Dong and the sunset restaurants on Long Beach are well worth including. For a stylish "thank-you dinner," the island also has fine dining like Nage Eatery, hidden in a garden.
